Traveling Newborn Photographer
As a mother of 5 children, I understand the challenges of preparing your household and getting out the door for a newborn session. But worry not! I am a traveling newborn photographer who can bring the session right to the comfort of your own home. I bring all my studio equipment, including lighting, backdrops, and props, to create stunning studio-quality newborn photography in the convenience of your home. The best part? frequently asked questions –newborn session
When should I schedule my newborn session?
It’s highly recommended to schedule your newborn photography session before your baby arrives. If you want a guaranteed spot it’s best to book at least 4 weeks to 3 months prior to your due date. When booking your newborn photoshoot with me I will tentatively put your due date on my calendar and once you deliver we will schedule a firm date for the session within those first two weeks of baby being born. So all I need is your due date to book you in.
How old should my newborn be for photos?
Newborn portraits are best done within the first 3 weeks of your baby being born with the sweet spot being within the first 7-18 days. Your baby will be very sleepy still at this age and won’t mind being posed in squishy newborn positions. After this age range babies tend to not be as sleepy and are more alert during their session; which can mean your newborn session could take a little longer.
Where do newborn sessions take place and what time of day?
Being a Lincoln newborn photographer, I aim to serve all clients in the Lincoln and Omaha Nebraska area. Your newborn photoshoot will take place in the comfort of your own home, my home or outdoors on location depending on weather. Newborn sessions are done on weekday mornings starting at 10am. Weekend availability is available for an additional fee.
Can siblings join in on the session?
They absolutely can! I do these photos towards the end of the session. So I ask if there are siblings that it is best if another parent is around to hang out with them while we are shooting baby by themselves. Newborn sessions take anywhere from 2.5-3 hours in length and little ones do not like to sit still for very long waiting for their turn to be photographed.
What should I wear for the family portion of the newborn session?
It’s best to avoid bright colors and clothing with logos. Creams, neutrals, blacks and grays photograph beautifully and are very classic and timeless. I also love the look of textures/ simple patterns. The shooting space will be kept nice and warm during the session (by a portable heater) to keep baby comfortable and cozy. So you will want to wear something light and then change into your clothes for the family portion when it is time. I do have some dresses/gowns for mama if you wanted to wear something in the client closet.
Do you provide digital images?
Of Course! Although I am a strong believer that your images should be cherished beyond just digitally. When we meet over zoom to choose your final images for retouching, you will receive your chosen favorites via either a USB or online digital gallery. Product purchases also include the matching digital file.
